LTO extends validity of Registration for vehicles affected by Enforced Community Quarantine

LTO FURTHER EXTENDS VALIDITY OF REGISTRATION FOR VEHICLES AFFECTED BY ENFORCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE In consideration of the present situation brought about by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has moved to further extend the validity of registration for motor vehicles. To recall, the LTO has previously issued an order to implement non-collection of penalties for late registration of motor vehicles and renewal of driver’s licenses which expired during the duration of community quarantine. The non-collection of fees has been effective as early as March this year, upon the enforcement of  Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila. On 9 May, the Agency issued another Memorandum Circular (MC), this time automatically  extending the validity of registration of motor vehicles which expired on 01 March and until the date of work resumption. Duterte approves limited face-to-face classes in low-risk areas starting 2021

July 21, 2020 – As several local government units and private schools are requesting to hold limited face-to-face classes in low-risk areas, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Tuesday approved its conduct starting next year.  This development came after the Department of Education (DepEd) received queries from local chief executives, legislators, private and international schools, and other education stakeholders on the possibility of conducting limited face-to-face classes in areas where it is deemed safe to do so by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Department of Health (DOH). Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones noted that limited face-to-face classes will ONLY be allowed upon the request of the LGU and school concerned and can only happen January 2021 under conditions set by the DOH, DepEd and IATF. DOH-EASTERN VISAYAS reports a total of 4,221 cases of Dengue Fever with 9 deaths

DOH- EASTERN VISAYAS REPORTS A TOTAL OF 4,221 CASES OF DENGUE FEVER WITH NINE (9) DEATHS Press Release / 20 July 2020 The Department of Health- Eastern Visayas announces today a total of 4,221 dengue cases in the region with nine (9) deaths. This covers morbidity weeks 1-29 (January 1 to July18, 2020. The total number of cases is 52% lower compared to the same period last year which is 8,797 cases. Of the total reported cases, 2,489 (58.96%) with warning signs, 1,712 (40.57%) with no warning signs, and 20 (0.47%) were severe cases. 3,684 cases of which or 87% were hospitalized. Our dengue cases age range from 8 months to 91 years old (median 12) and 52% or 2,195 are males. The dengue cases in the region are distributed as follows: Majority of our reported cases come from the province of Leyte with a total of 2,160 cases (51.17%), 279 are from Tacloban City, 228 from Baybay City, and 158 from Ormoc City. Cebu City now under MECQ; NCR still GCQ President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, in his Talk to the People Address on July 15, placed Cebu City under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting July 16. DepEd secures NTC's support for TV, radio-based education

Committed to widening the access to education despite the pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) secured an ally in the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) to support television and radio-based learning delivery for the upcoming school year.  DepEd, through the NTC headed by Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba, has requested *television, radio, and cable operators to broadcast educational materials and instructions as part of the Department’s Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).* The Department is set to implement a blended learning approach as face-to-face classes are still prohibited, with TV and radio-based instruction being one of the three main set-ups with modular and online learning as the other two options.  NTC, as the government agency mandated to oversee broadcasting operations in the country, has issued a memorandum to remind TV and radio operators of its public service obligation, including providing *free of charge assistance in the func

DOH 8: 31 new recoveries from COVID-19, bringing the total of recovered patients to 352 or 60.58%

As of July 4, DOH-8 reported 31 new recoveries from COVID-19, bringing the total number of patients in Eastern Visayas who recovered from coronavirus disease to 352 or 60.58%. Meanwhile, four (4) new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total confirmed cases in the region to 581.
