#UPDATE | #Covid-19 #Vaccine - More than 150 vaccines are being developed and tested around the world to stop the COVID-19 pandemic, with 25 in human clinical trials, according to the World Health Organization.

The following list tracks the latest developments from major drugmakers and research institutes that have started human trials for their vaccine candidates.

UNITED KINGDOM (3)

DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Final stage study in 1,077 healthy adults
STATE OF PLAY:
- Vaccine produces immune response in early-stage trials
- Late-stage trials currently underway in adults in Brazil and South Africa and due to start in US.
- Over a million doses possible by September.

DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Final stage trials in Abu Dhabi, testing up to 15,000 volunteers
STATE OF PLAY:
- The Chinese state-owned company is developing two vaccines, one of which has shown promise in humans.

- The China-based vaccine maker has released positive preliminary results from early-stage trials of its vaccine

▪️ CanSino Biologics

- Early results showed the China-based company's vaccine is safe
- China's military has received the greenlight to use the vaccine.

UNITED STATE OF AMERICA (7)

▪️Pfizer Inc and BioNtech SE
DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Begins pivotal global study to evaluate lead COVID-19 vaccine candidate; Study aims to enroll 30,000 volunteers
STATE OF PLAY:
- Vaccine produced virus-neutralizing antibodies in early-stage trials in U.S. and Germany
- Pfizer aims for about 1.3 billion doses by the end of 2021

DEVELOPMENT PHASE: 30,000 subject final stage trial to demonstrate it is safe and effective began in July 27

- The U.S government has awarded $1.6 billion to test and manufacture its experimental vaccine

-Australian biotech expects to start mid-stage trials in next few weeks after positive results from the first stage human study

- German biotech expects data in September or October, files for IPO in U.S

SOUTH KOREA

▪️Genexine Inc
DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Early-stage trials
STATE OF PLAY:
- South Korea's Genexine has begun human trials in South Korea

RUSSIA

▪️Gamaleya Research Institute
DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Early-stage trials
STATE OF PLAY:
- The Gamaleya Research Institute has begun human trials of an experimental vaccine, with results expected in August

CANADA

▪️Medicago
DEVELOPMENT PHASE: Early-stage trials
STATE OF PLAY:
- The Canadian company is studying a plant-based vaccine

JAPAN

A woman was arrested in a buy-bust in Ormoc City

A woman was arrested in a buy-bust along Zone 3, Malbasag Dist. 28 about 1:45 a.m. Friday (Feb. 1). City Drug Enforcement Unit chief P/SInsp. Romeo Franklyn Parangan identified the suspect as Mae Quintana, 30, a mother of two and residing in Barugo, Leyte. Parangan said Quintana is the live-in partner of April Jan Arevalo, who was arrested last October in a buy-bust operation in the same area. Police tagged Arevalo, a drug surrenderee, as a high-value target. Recovered from Quintana was one small sachet containing suspected shabu procured by a poseur-buyer operative at P1000, and two P500 cash used as marked money for the operation. Also seized was a sachet that contains five small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu each worth about P500. Quintana did not say anything when asked about the shabu in her possession. Charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being readied against the suspect who was jailed at the female detention cell of Police
