The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a compassionate special permit for Ivermectin for a hospital’s use.
In today’s Laging Handa Public Briefing, FDA Director General Undersecretary Eric Domingo has confirmed that they have granted a hospital for the compassionate special use of the controversial drug. However, he refused to reveal the name in a text message due to “patient privacy”.
“Mayroon na po kaming na-grant dahil nga po ang Ivermectin ay isang investigational product….Sa pagkakaalam ko po, may isang hospital sa amin ang nag-apply ng compassionate special permit at ito po ay na-grant na ngayong araw na ito. (We have granted a compassionate special permit because Ivermectin is an investigational product…From what I know, there is one hospital that has applied for the compassionate special permit and it was granted today [April 8]).”
Usec. Domingo disclosed that there are currently two applications for the certificate of product registration of Ivermectin.
The FDA reiterated that it is not against the drug, however, it must be registered and must undergo quality assurance before using it on individuals.
