Typhoon 'Ambo' Signal No. 3 raised in Samar areas

"AMBO" FURTHER INTENSIFIES AND IS NOW THREATENING THE EASTERN SAMAR-NORTHERN SAMAR AREA.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook:
•Today (14 May): Heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over Samar Provinces. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate, and the rest of Eastern Visayas.
•Tomorrow (15 May): Heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over Bicol Region. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Northern Samar, Quezon, Aurora, Marinduque, and Romblon.
•Residents in these areas are advised to take appropriate measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the local rainfall or thunderstorm advisories and heavy rainfall warnings from PAGASA Regional Services Divisions (PRSD). Flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur in highly to very highly susceptible areas during heavy or prolonged rainfall.

Coastal Water Conditions and Storm Surge Information:
•In the next 48 hours, storm surge of 1.0 to 3.0 meters may be experienced over the coastal areas of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar (east coast), Samar (west coast), Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Quezon, and Aurora. Along with large swells, this storm surge may cause potentially life-threatening coastal inundation.
•Sea travel is risky for all types of seacrafts over the seaboards of areas under TCWS.

Landfall Information:
•The typhoon is forecast to make landfall over Northern Samar or the northern portion of Eastern Samar this afternoon or early evening before heading towards Sorsogon later tonight. Violent winds and heavy to torrential rains of the eyewall region will begin affecting Northern Samar and the northern portions of Samar and Eastern Samar in the next 12 hours.
•Further intensification remains likely before the typhoon makes landfall.

Location of eye/center: At 7:00 AM today, the center of  "AMBO" was estimated based on all available data including those from Guiuan Doppler Radar at 185 km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 110 km East Northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar (12.1°N, 126.3°E). 
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of up to 155 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 190 km/h.
Movement: Moving Westward at 15 km/h.

• 96 Hour (Monday morning): 565 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (24.0°N, 125.9°E)
• 120 Hour (Tuesday morning): 1,800 km Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (OUTSIDE PAR) (30.2°N, 136.3°E)

TCWS #3 (121-170 km/h winds prevailing or expected in 18 hours)
Sorsogon, the eastern section of Albay (Legazpi City, Manito, Daraga, Camalig, Jovellar, Santo Domingo, Bacacay, Rapu-Rapu), and Ticao Island
Northern Samar, the northern portion of Eastern Samar (Jipapad, Arteche, Maslog, Dolores, Oras, San Policarpio, Can-avid, Taft, Sulat, San Julian, Borongan City), and the northern portion of Samar (Calbayog City, Sta. Margarita, Gandara, Pagsanghan, San Jorge, Matuguinao, San Jose de Buan)
Areas under TCWS #3 will experience strong to destructive typhoon-force winds during the passage of the typhoon.

TCWS #2 (61-120 km/h winds prevailing or expected in 24 hours)
The southeastern portion of Quezon (Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Buenavista, San Narciso, Mulanay, San Andres, San Francisco), Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, the rest of Albay, Burias Island, and the northern portion of mainland Masbate (Aroroy, Baleno, Masbate City, Mobo, Uson, Dimasalang, Palanas, Cataingan, Pio V. Corpuz)
Biliran, the rest of Samar, and the rest of Eastern Samar.
Areas under TCWS #2 will experience strong to damaging gale/storm-force winds during the passage of the typhoon.

TCWS #1 (30-60 km/h winds prevailing or expected in 36 hours)
The southern portion of Aurora (Baler, San Luis, Dingalan), the southern portion of Nueva Ecija (Bongabon, Gabaldon, General Tinio, Laur, San Leonardo, PeƱaranda, Gapan City), Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, the rest of Quezon, Marinduque, and the eastern portion of Romblon (Banton, Corcuera, Calatrava, San Agustin, Romblon, Magdiwang, San Fernando, Cajidiocan) The northern portion of Leyte (Calubian, San Isidro, Tabango, Villaba, Leyte, Kananga, Capoocan, Carigara, Barugo, San Miguel, Babatngon, Tunga, Jaro, Alangalang, Sta. Fe, Tacloban City, Palo, Pastrana, Dagami, Tabontabon, Tanauan, Tolosa, Ormoc City, Matag-ob, Palompon, Merida, Isabel, Albuera, Burauen, Julita, Dulag).

A woman was arrested in a buy-bust in Ormoc City

A woman was arrested in a buy-bust along Zone 3, Malbasag Dist. 28 about 1:45 a.m. Friday (Feb. 1). City Drug Enforcement Unit chief P/SInsp. Romeo Franklyn Parangan identified the suspect as Mae Quintana, 30, a mother of two and residing in Barugo, Leyte. Parangan said Quintana is the live-in partner of April Jan Arevalo, who was arrested last October in a buy-bust operation in the same area. Police tagged Arevalo, a drug surrenderee, as a high-value target. Recovered from Quintana was one small sachet containing suspected shabu procured by a poseur-buyer operative at P1000, and two P500 cash used as marked money for the operation. Also seized was a sachet that contains five small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu each worth about P500. Quintana did not say anything when asked about the shabu in her possession. Charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being readied against the suspect who was jailed at the female detention cell of Police
