ORMOC CITY, Jan. 28 -- District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO), spearheaded, in behalf of DPWH – Regional Office, the turn-over ceremony of the completed Ormoc diversion road on January 5, 2019.
The road project, amounting to P547 million, was implemented by DPWH–Regional Office and was closely monitored by DPWH Leyte 4th DEO. It comprised of 11.145-km road with three bridges along Brgy. San Pablo going to Brgy. Bantigue, Ormoc City.
The diversion road aims to provide an alternate route for travelers who traverse along Palo–Carigara–Ormoc road going to Ormoc–Baybay–So. Leyte road and vice versa, without passing by the city proper.
The completion of the project will be significant for residents, motorists, and commuters as it will provide easy, fast, and convenient access to their destination (remote barangays) which, in return, improves the economic condition in the area.
Furthermore, it will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the City.
The turn-over ceremony was attended by 4th District Congresswoman Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez and Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio and section chiefs of District Engineering Office along with the City councilors, Brgy. Chairpersons, and some residents. (LDL/DPWH-Leyte 4th of Leyte.
